West Witton to West Burton via Back Lane, river side path along the River Ure, Sorrelsykes Park, West Burton. Return via Morpeth Gate and High Lane. 10 miles.

Despite the forecast of heavy showers, the rain didn’t arrive until after we had finished the walk. The riverside meadows in Wanlass Park were very colourful with flowers such as Meadow Crane’s-bill, Ox-eyed daisy and Early – purple Orchid. Low river levels meant that the stepping stones at Stony Stoop Lane were clearly visible. Walking back along High Lane there were clear views over Lower Wensleydale and towards the Hambleton Hills.
