From East Witton heading south over Agra Moor into Colsterdale, passing Slipstone Crags then into Gollinglithfoot. Returning via Ellingstring and Hammer Farm - 10 miles
Glorious sunshine and blue skies greeted seven walkers as they headed from East Witton over to Gollinglithfoot. A steep, 30 minute ascent from East Witton to Sowden Beck Farm was rewarded with fabulous, extensive views over Agra Moor and Colsterdale with the heather in full bloom. We came across several old stone Parish Boundary Stones, some of which were incorporated into the stone walls. The return route on the Six Dales Way to Ellingstring was more gentle and on grassy tracks where we spotted a hare. The descent through Grey Yaud Plantation was a pleasant contrast to the open moorland. Refreshments were enjoyed outside at the Blue Lion, East Witton.
