Walking north from Castle Bolton onto Black Hill, then west to Collier Gate, south to Greenshaw shooting hut . Returning via Peatmoor Lane and farm tracks / Oxclose Road - 9 miles
Ten members met at Bolton Castle car park on a mild winter's day; fortunately the forecast mist / low cloud didn't materialise; instead after a cloudy start sunny intervals developed giving us a good 'goldilocks' day for walking - neither too cold nor too windy. After walking into Castle Bolton village we joined the bridleway heading North uphill across soggy fields to Black Hill where we joined a shooting track West to Colliers Gate then South to Sweet William, a small shooting hut for lunch, shown as Greenhaw Hut on the OS map. Views were reminiscent of an Alpine setting with snow-capped Pennine fells in the distance. After lunch we continued South to Peatmoor Lane, returning to Bolton Castle car park and the castle tea room via soggy but thankfully not very muddy farm tracks
