From Bainbridge, walking along the river Bain to Semer Water taking in the quaint hamlets of Stalling Busk and Marsett. Climbing past Green Scar  onto a lovely ridge walk above Semer Water with great views across Raydale. Returning to Bainbridge  via a section of the Roman Road and narrow moorland footpaths - 9 miles

A group of 8 walkers  set off from Bainbridge well wrapped up against the cold and took the footpath following the course of the River Bain to Semerwater, enjoying the bird life with flocks of geese circling above the fields and lake. Then we followed the footpath by the lake to the delightful hamlet of Stalling Busk where we had a coffee break and a look at the beautiful small church before taking the bridleway across the valley to Marsett. From there it was a very steep climb of about 30 minutes to reach the ridge overlooking the valley and we were rewarded with views of Buckden Pike in the far distance and Addleborough with its distinctive flat top. At this stage we experienced a hail storm,  so we delayed our picnic lunch until we were a bit lower down and had shelter by a stone wall, by which time the sun decided to shine and we were approached by a flock of curious sheep who obviously thought we had come to feed them! We then walked over  to reach the Roman Cam Road which eventually took us back to Bainbridge, with absolutely stunning views looking up the valley beyond Hawes as the weather had cleared by this time. A cold day but magical to be up on the high fells with constantly shifting clouds and stunning views in all directions from the ridge; Luckily we only got a little bit wet!
