From Kepwick village up to Kepwick Moor via The Nab, followed by a steep descent into Thorodale through North Moor Wood and Half Moon Plantation. After climbing up Stoney Gill Hole to High Paradise, returning via Steeple Cross, Galloway Hill and Pen Hill through the (now destroyed) rhododendrons on Atlay Bank - 12 miles
Five walkers set off from Kepwick on a lovely sunny day with lots of bluebells to see. After our first break on Kepwick moor we walked down into Thorodale and through North Moor Woods. We had a second stop among the bluebells in Coomb Hill Woods before we climbed up Stoney Gill hole to cross Dale Town Common and onto the cafe at High Paradise where we enjoyed cakes etc in the sunshine. Then back onto the Cleveland way and down to Atlay Hill where we should have seen lots of rhododendrons.; They have been mecanically destroyed (apparently, they are an invasive species), so the new name for the rhododendron walk is now the Bluebell walk. A wonderful day out!
