Reeth and Arkengarthdale - 15th January 2023

A circular walk along footpaths and bridleways from Reeth over to Arkengarthdale taking in Langthwaite, Booze, Arkle Town - 9 miles

After the relentless rain that confined us to barracks for what has felt like an eternity, seven members and four guests were blessed with a lovely, sunny day and amazing views towards Fremington Edge, Slei Gill, Calver Hill and Arkengarthdale. Lunch was taken just above Langthwaite in glorious sunshine. A stream in spate prompted a slight detour via West Raw Farm on the return stretch. After mustering the exertion required to ascend to the road and then clamber over moundy ground to skirt Calver Hill, we had a well -earned break. The descent to Reeth along Skelgate Lane was wet, wet, wet! We were glad to take the customary, well deserved refreshments in the King’s Arms. It was lovely to meet up with two former club members and also two guests who have recently moved into the area. Overall a great day out with lovely company. Many thanks to all!
