Circular from Newton-le-willows taking in the pretty villages of Akebar, Constable Burton and Finghall - 10 miles
On today's walk 17 ramblers turned up, including the leader, of which there were 12 members and 5 guests. The weather was very kind to us today, overcast but pleasant with it.
We headed off across fields making our way to Akebar, where we stopped to use the excellent facilities in the caravan park. We then headed to the medieval church St Andrew's in the borough of Fingall. We arrived at the village of Constable Burton where we had an early lunch. We had our final break nearThornton Resevoir . On our way around we encountered two of the most well tempered dogs you could wish for. Slight detour in the last section of woods after we missed the path, but the residents of the nearby house very kindly came out and turned off the electric fence we needed to climb to return to our route!
We arrived back around 14.45. Luckily we didn't lose anyone. Bonus!
